Reading Innovations Language Program

Center for Dyslexia and Reading Disorders

Reading and writing is essential for our children’s success. Jersey Shore Learning Center offers customized, comprehensive reading and writing programs for grades K-12. We diagnose each exceptional child to understand their strengths and weaknesses and plan each lesson to accommodate their learning needs.

Our tutoring program is designed to ensure each student reaches their full potential by learning strategies that they can use throughout their academic life. Our “Multisensory Teaching” program is based on the Wilson Language System and Orton-Gillingham Methods when teaching reading.

Congratulations to the following teachers at Jersey Shore Learning Center for earning their KPEERI certificate:

* Kathy Mueller    * Tara Keegan    * Ali Hart   * Colleen Ferrarese  * Lani Marsh

Each teacher completed rigorous training from Jersey Shore Learning Center and completed a comprehensive exam to earn this distinguished certificate. The exam, which is aligned with the IDA Knowledge and Practice Standards, measures an educator’s knowledge of the principles and practices of Structured Literacy. It demonstrates expertise in the provision of systematic, explicit instruction that integrates listening, speaking, reading, and writing and the structure of language across the speech sound system (phonology), the writing system (orthography), the structure of sentences (syntax), the meaningful parts of words (morphology), the relationships among words (semantics), and the organization of spoken and written discourse. In addition, teacher training prepared each teacher to use data to plan, monitor, and adjust instruction to meet the literacy needs of students. This certification is awarded by The Center for Effective Reading Instruction.

The candidates who complete their training at Jersey Shore Learning Center demonstrate the highest level of proficiency in teaching and ensure each student is put on a path to success!

What is Dyslexia?” and  “Who Should You Listen To?”

We specialize in helping students with dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, dysgraphia & auditory processing disorder.

Our students have difficulty learning through traditional methods. They need to be taught in a way that teaches them reading comprehension and writing strategies using their strengths. Our scientifically developed program provides an environment where kids are motivated to learn, improve their reading and writing skills and become life-long readers and thinkers.

Our expert teaching staff will put your child on a path to success!

Our multi-sensory approach is action oriented with auditory, visual and kinesthetic elements creating optimal learning. We instruct directly and explicitly using a systematic approach. Students learn to blend sounds into syllables and words. Our language-based program understands the nature of human language, the mechanisms involved in learning, and the language learning process in individuals.

Mary Beth and her team and program really work… He has come so far since last year and took off with reading. Just found out yesterday he tested at reading level for his grade. His confidence has improved greatly since last year. We owe it all the Jersey Shore Learning Center program and Mary Beth. We couldn’t be happier with her program and Anthony loves seeing her too. I highly recommend the program.

Michelle Falzone

Jersey Shore Learning Center has made such an impact on our daughter’s (2nd grade) reading. As of June ’18, we started to accompany her IEP for reading (which she had) and has progressed so well that as of next year, she will no longer have the IEP. Her confidence has sky rocketed and she is learning skills and tools, that she just wasn’t getting at school, that are really sticking with her and making a world of a difference, all thanks to Ms. Kathy!

We have been so happy with Mary Beth, her team, and the program that we signed our 4th grader up for a confidence boast and extra learning tools as well (he did not qualify for an IEP). His teacher has been commenting on how he has improved immensely and that he is so much for confident with reading and has seen improvement in subjects across the board. Thank you Ms. Kelly!
